Architect: The Ventin Group Built: 1990

The St. Catharines Museum originally opened in Merritton during Canada's Centennial Year 1967, but moved to Lock 3 on the Canal in 1990. From the elevated viewing platform at Lock 8, visitors get a close-up look at ships from around the world. Inside, visitors may watch a video presentation, or learn more about the four Welland Canals and the history of the area through the Museums exhibits. Those who tour the galleries can also experience the rich legacy of Niagara's African Canadians in the integrated "Follow the North Star" exhibit, or learn about the history of our national summer game in the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Museum.
